Tristan has been a specialist in Exercise Physiology for over 8 years and has worked extensively in the rehabilitation of the elderly population. Throughout his career he has assisted clients with a vast array of musculoskeletal, respiratory, metabolic and cardiac conditions. Tristan also has a experience in the cardiac investigations unit and is committed to the rehabilitation of his clients.

Tristan holds a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and Post Graduate Diploma in Exercise Physiology.  He is also a member of Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA).

Kristie Pieters

Dietitian

Kristie is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and is a graduate of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of the Sunshine Coast. Kristie’s passion for a career in health and nutrition stems from her love of cooking, growing her own food, living an active life and sharing the knowledge of living a healthy lifestyle with others. She takes a practical and well-rounded approach towards healthcare that is attributed to her outlook on life. In Kristie’s practice she places an emphasis on an individualised client centred approach founded on evidenced based practice.

 

Kristie has experience and enjoys working with a variety of clients ranging from weight management, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues and nutrition education. She also has an interest in delivering group education sessions covering a wide variety of topics such as food label education, healthy eating and chronic disease management. 

 

Kristie is a diabetes educator and has been an invited guest lecturer in nutrition at institutions in Australia and China. In Kristie’s spare time she likes to enjoy the outdoors, horse riding, surfing, traveling, hiking and gardening.

Michael Ryan

Physiotherapist

Mick Ryan Physiotherapist Tin Can Bay

Michael Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland in Brisbane in 1990. Since then he has gained experience both in Australia and North America. Michael was born in Gin Gin, and grew up in Central Queensland. After graduating he has worked in Gladstone, Canberra, Calgary (Canada), Brisbane and Bundaberg, before working the last 12 months on the Sunshine Coast. He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and Sports Medicine Australia. 

Michael is an experienced hands-on Physio, who has spent many years expanding his skill-set and knowledge by working in varied environments, including private practice and hospitals. He is a proponent of continuing education, frequently attending post-graduate courses and conferences.

 

Throughout his years as a Physiotherapist, Michael has been involved with Australian Olympic teams, and has worked with many National level athletes in both Australia and Canada. In 2013, he was the Physiotherapist for the Australian Country Cricket team. Michael loves sport, and still plays cricket and the occasional round of golf if he can find time. He is also very keen on bush-walking, hiking, music and photography.

Courtney Mallett

Exercise Physiologist

Courtney graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2015. Her choice of study and career pathway developed around her exercise and sporting interests and her desire to work closely with and help people. 

Throughout her career Courtney developed an interest in chronic illness and believes in exercise as an intervention to improve quality of life in all conditions. She has gained experience in helping people with varying conditions and assisted them in setting goals to reach greater health outcomes. Courtney hopes to continue this throughout her career.

Courtney is available in our centres in Tin Can Bay and Gympie, or is available for home visits in the Gympie area.  Courtney's usual schedule is:

  • Wednesday (afternoon) - Gympie

  • Thursday - Tin Can Bay

Brendan McCann

Exercise Physiologist

Brendan became an accredited Exercise Physiologist in 2011 after completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement Studies). Prior to this Brendan worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Queensland Reds and as a Cardiac Technician in Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Brendan's speciality areas include:

  • post-operative musculoskeletal rehabilitation

  • management of chronic diseases in particular osteoarthritis, heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

  • falls prevention

 

Brendan gets satisfaction from seeing clients arrive at the clinic in debilitating pain and leaving with a smile on their face and a spring in their step. "The best thing about his job are the people that I get to work with. Meeting all these interesting and lovely clients and helping them to reach their fitness and functional goals makes me love coming to work."

 

Brendan believes exercise shouldn't be a chore. Make it fun.

Wian van Heerden 

Exercise Physiologist

Wian, the newest member of the Full Circle Wellness team, graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2017 with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science. Wian has previously worked as a strength and conditioning coach in both rugby union and rugby league. 

Wian has a special interest in rehabilitating and helping people live with their musculoskeletal conditions or injuries. He has gained experience using exercise to improve health outcomes for sufferers of cardiovascular, pulmonary and metabolic conditions.
